Modifying a quiz question for future quizzes

There are times that you may want to edit a quiz question after the quiz has already been attempted by students so that the changed version can be used moving forward. For information on how to apply edits to question in a quiz students have attempted and having this change reflected to those students, refer to Modifying a Quiz Question After It's been Attempted on updating and regrading the question.

How can a question be fixed for the next quiz?

To keep the question the same in the completed quiz and update it for future use follow these steps:

  1. Browse to the quiz page

  2. Click on Questions on the course banner
Questions option highlighted in course navigation bar for a quiz
  3. Click on the pencil icon for the question you wish to modify
Pencil icon to the left of the question title to access editing

  4. Edit the question, then save your changes using the Save changes button at the bottom of the page. You will be returned to the Questions page for your quiz.

  5. Use the drop-down of options to the right of the question title to select the previous version of the question (rather than the version marked “latest”). This will ensure the question remains unchanged within the quiz that's already been attempted.
